Josh Du Sautoy

Senior Student Funding Officer, Student Funding

What is your role and what does it involve?

I manage the Financial Assistance Fund, which involves helping students who are in financial hardship. I also work on US Loans, Scholarships and Bursaries.

How long have you been at UCL?

1 year and 1 month

What attracted you to UCL?

I wanted to work for a world leader, recognised worldwide as a high-quality institution.

What and where was your previous role?

I was Student Funding Manager at St Mary’s University.

What working achievement or initiative at UCL (or in previous work experiences) are you most proud of?

Working on the Financial Assistance Fund can be very rewarding at times, as we’re directly helping students to stay at the university, overcoming financial obstacles to complete their studies.

What is the best aspect about working at UCL?

The team here at Õ¬ÄÐÊÓƵ is the best I’ve worked with. They all care a lot about the students and are excellent at their jobs. I also love being at the centre of everything, geographically, but also in the sector. You can mention UCL and everyone has heard of it.

What does it feel like to be part of the Õ¬ÄÐÊÓƵ community?Ìý

It feels great to hear BBC News quote someone from UCL on a subject!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to take advantage of working in central London as much as I can, by going to the cinema and the theatre. Closer to home, I’ve started writing a play and hope to put it on this year (if it’s any good) I’ve also just started Parkrun as well, though time will tell whether that will as be fun as the other things…
