Developing a student-led vision

Principal theme: Best student support

Student and Registry Services enlisted a team of students to find out what they want from their UCL experience.

UCL students

UCL Student and Registry Services recruited a team of students to design and implement a student-led engagement project. Using focus groups, surveys and social media the team involved more than 500 of their peers with the topic of what an exceptional student experience at UCL should look like in the future.

The focus groups included undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate research students, with home, EU and international participants.

Several key themes emerged, including a strong desire for a more cohesive Õ¬ÄÐÊÓƵ identity; more imaginative use of space and communal space in particular; more cross-disciplinary work; greater interaction between students and academics; and greater integration of students so that they benefit from the diversity to be found at UCL. Concerns about accommodation and facilities were also raised.
