Bartlett interdisciplinary research secures 拢30,000 funding

Six interdisciplinary research projects, each involving significant Bartlett collaboration, have been awarded nearly 拢30,000 of funding.
The awards, part of , were announced on 20 December 2011. In all six successful projects, Bartlett researchers acted as lead applicant, main collaborator or additional collaborator.
The projects, which received 拢29,452 in total, demonstrate the Bartlett's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration both within the Faculty and across . In many cases, partners in industry and other UK universities were also involved.
The successful applications included:
- Dr Barbara Lipietz (), Professor Mike Raco () and Michael Edwards () for 'Community Participation in City-Wide Planning: Comparing London and Johannesburg'.
- Dr Fuzhan Nasiri (Bartlett School of Graduate Studies) & Dr Sarah Bell () for 'Developing Urban Water Reuse Networks in the UK'.
- Dr Richard Taws (), Dr Jann Matlock () & Dr Barbara Penner () for 'Ephemeral Cities: Sustainable Research into Non-Sustainable Urban Objects'.
- Professor Murray Fraser () and Dr Camillo Boano () for 'Learning Room Design Project on the Gaza Strip'.
- Tse-Hui Teh () and Dr Barbara Penner () for 'New Loos for London?'.
These awards will enable the Bartlett to develop its world-leading research, as well as expand its multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary activity.
The UCL Grand Challenges Small Grants Programme funds projects that lead to, or support, cross-disciplinary collaboration under the broad headings of Global Health, , Intercultural Interaction and .
