Honorary Contracts

GOSH staff with a UCL Honorary Contract are eligible to access the full range of University College London’s electronic library resources, including electronic journals, both on and off-site. Information about how to obtain an Honorary Contract is available on theÌýÌý(under the heading ‘Honorary Appointments’).

Physical Library Services and Library SpaceÌý

The Library is open Monday to Friday 9:00am-6:00pm.Ìý

We provide 7 GOSH networked computers in the library, giving access to the GOSHÌýÌýstaff terminal. There are five computersÌýwhich GOSH members of the library can use to access the ejournals and databases which UCL subscribes to.ÌýThere is also a bookable training room with 8 computersÌýÌýwith audio-visual facilities which can be booked in advance for private study or meetings.ÌýÌýThe library assists those with their own laptop or other portable electronic device and require help with connecting to the GOSH staff terminal

Free UCL Wi-Fi access is given to all GOSH staff.

As well as using the UCL ÌýGOS ICH Ìýlibrary, GOSH staff can access all 18 UCL libraries, 8 of which are specialist biomedical libraries.

Electronic resourcesÌý

GOSH staff can have an NHS OpenAthens password,Ìýwhich the Library administers. The NHS password provides access to all the NHS resources ( e-journals and databases, ebooks) from anywhere with an InternetÌýconnection.

A significant number of resources are licensed through UCL Library Services that are accessible,Ìýusing a personal NHS Athens account, directly from aÌýworkplace orÌýhomeÌýcomputer.ÌýÌý

These currently include resources such as BMJ Case Reports, Clinical Evidence, Best Health, Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin and many others.Ìý

The library has expanded its collection of specifically for GOSH staff, 4,000 new e-books have recently been purchased giving GOSH staff remote online access to a wide range of downloadable books via EBSCO host through their NHS Athens account.Ìý Ìý

Requests from Õ¬ÄÐÊÓƵ e-journals and e-books

NHS library membersÌýÌýcan request an electronic copyÌýof journal articles and book chapters.

Endnote LicenseÌý

The Library pays for the EndNote license to be available to all GOSH staff. EndNote is a commercial reference management software package, used to manage bibliographies and references when writing articles, essays, systematic reviews and so on. Upon request library staff provide a code to GOSH staff so that the latest version of EndNote software can be downloaded to their home PC, or work computer.Ìý
