The visit included 3 days of activity on the field, where our group visited Iskenderun, Antakya, Adiyaman, Golbasi, Pazarcik, Nurdagi and Gaziantep, and observed several cases of structural and non-structural building damage, damage due to liquefaction, retrofitting of structures and earthquake surface ruptures. In addition, they were immersed in the local culture through their amazing cuisine, architecture and art heritage.

Later, our students travelled to Istanbul, where they visited a residential construction project with four base-isolated structures with Lead Rubber Bearing (LRB) devices, where they learned about the design of innovative structural solutions to improve the earthquake performance of buildings. Our students were also invited to visit the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI) at , where they experienced a simulation of a Mw = 5.1 earthquake and visited some of the state-of-the-art facilities of the institute. The closing of our amazing field trip was at the historical South Campus, which possesses some of the most breathtaking views of Istanbul.
