In the first UCL-Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Strategic Partner Funds, aimed at supportingthe development of collaborative research and education initiatives, eight projects wereawarded funding of up to £10,000 each.

Submissions wereassessed by a committee composed of members from both institutions, with UCL and SJTU contributing matching funds to support the successful proposals.

The applications focused on the mutual priorities of mitigating the impact of COVID-19 and addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

One of this year’s recipients, Dr Jie Liu (Institute of Education), said: “I feel very honoured to receive this funding together with my colleague at SJTU, Dr Xinghua (Kevin) Liu.
