Description

This module provides students with an understanding of the engineering process and practice in carrying it out. The aim of the course is to deliver training in design, engineering practice and the economic, environmental and social context which will enable our graduates to achieve the requirements of Chartered Engineering status.

By the end of the module students will:

  • Understand and apply a systems engineering process over the full product lifecycle;
  • Understand and write specifications and data sheets for electronic components and systems;
  • Complete an electronic design to meet a given set of requirements and effectively communicate the design though documentation and presentation;
  • Understand the economic and risk aspects of engineering design and manufacturing;
  • Find relevant technical literature and write a reasoned assessment of it;
  • Understand situations arising in the practice of engineering which may have legal ramifications
