Description
This skills module will teach basic and advanced plastic and reconstructive surgical techniques. It provides you with the knowledge to understand the theoretical and practical evidence base relating to basic and advanced reconstructive surgical skills and techniques. The practical skill teaching will be undertaken in the Charles Wolfson Centre Surgical Skills Laboratories. It will involve lectures, workshops/practical skill workstations under faculty supervision.
You will learn a wide range of practical skills including instrument and suture selection, instrument holding, approaches to reconstructive problems, multiple methods of suturing tissues and their applications, methods of skin graft harvest, multiple designs of skin flaps and skin flap choice, design and elevation, techniques of tendon repair, microscopic nerve repair and techniques for fixation of hand fracture.
