Description
Planning for Education and Development (PED) provides an international perspective on the ways in which education is planned within and between governments, non- and inter-governmental organisations, and the private sector, especially in the context of low- or middle-income countries/contexts (LMICs). The module examines educational planning ‘solutions’ including projects, programmes, policies and interventions in relation toÌýcontemporary issues, problems and challengesÌýin education and development. ÌýIt includes a focus on the ‘planning cycle’ from design through to monitoring and evaluation with attention to educational outcomes and to questions of efficiency, sustainability and equity or social justice in resource-constrained settings. It also examines educational planning in broader macro perspectives including in terms of political economy and the role of international institutions. Upon completion of the module, students will be able to apply and critique educational planning techniques and models and their underlying assumptions within global, national, and local contexts, as well as understand decision-making processes in education.Ìý
