Description
This module aims to give students a sound understanding of situational crime prevention and its location within the crime prevention process from inception to completion. This involves frameworks that can be used in planning prevention strategies and issues that are likely to come up when implementing prevention initiatives. Part of the lectures are devoted to case studies of prevention for specific crime types. These cover vehicle crime, antisocial behavior, violence, burglary, theft, and emerging crime types. Guest speakers from academia and industry will bring knowledge from their research and broaden students' network. Tutorials are designed to foster student engagement, creative and critical thinking for situational crime prevention frameworks. This module focuses primarily on examples of crime reduction using situational crime prevention techniques.
