Description
This module introduces students to key texts, concepts, and developments in the literary cultures of the Hispanic world. It will present students with pivotal fictional works from a range of countries in the Spanish-speaking world and across a time-span that reflects the research expertise of staff in the department. The module will cement an understanding of how literature responds to, reflects on, and – at times – contests contemporary structures of power, gender, and race. It will develop skills in close-reading, textual analysis, and contextualization of literary works.
