Biography

I joined the UCL School of Public Policy, Department of Political Science in September 2018. A Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges and Natolin, IÌýholdÌýa degree in Economics and Social Sciences (Bocconi University) and a PhD in political science (Florence).

Prior to joining UCL, IÌýwasÌýDirector of the at the University of Exeter (2004-18) and Professor of Public Policy at the University of Bradford.ÌýIn 2014, IÌýwas awarded the annual IdEx Chair at the Centre Emile Durkheim at the University of Bordeaux. IÌýwas Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute, Program Director at the Robert Schuman Centre (2003-04), and Invited Professor at Sciences-Po Paris and Score-University of Stockholm. IÌýwas alsoÌýAdjunct Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen.

I offerÌýteaching every year at the Summer School of European Integration, organised by the University of Agder, Kristiansand, where for four years IÌýwas also a faculty member. IÌýamÌýa founding member of Ìýand I sitÌýon the College of the .

Research

A political scientist specialisingÌýin public policy, my research interests include: the policy process of the European Union;Ìýthe effects of EU policies on the Member States;Ìýthe roles and usages of expertise, narratives and ideas in public policy and administration;Ìýregulatory reform;Ìýand regulatory analysis tools.ÌýMethodologically, IÌýdrawÌýmostly on qualitative methods, but I haveÌýalso published quantitative and set-theoretical articles.

I was awarded two advanced grants by the European Research Council. I am completing the second ERC project on . I haveÌýpublished more than 80 articles in refereed political science journals, as well asÌý55 book chapters.
