Face fit testing - departmental training now available

19 August 2021

If your department uses disposable FFP masks or half masks with filter cartridges, Safety Services can train your staff to carry out the face fit.

A face fit test should be carried out the first time a worker uses a particular type of Respiratory Protective Equipment as inadequate fit can reduce the protection provided and lead to immediate or long-term health problems.

Face fit tester training now available

To provide resilience in the management of respiratory hazards at UCL, Safety Services has arranged for onsite training so that departments can manage the fitting of all types of negative pressure half masks. If your department uses disposable FFP masks or half masks with filter cartridges, Safety Services can train your staff to carry out the face fit.

By completing this instructor led course, you will be able to face fit other members of your staff group. Safety Services will provide you with guidance and ongoing admin support to help you carry out the role.

What does the course cover

  • An in-depth knowledge of Face Fit Testing
  • Information about Qualitative Fit Test Methods
  • What is required to carry out Face Fit testing

Safety Services will deliver this half-day Fit2Fit RPE course during October 2021 on Bloomsbury Campus. Bookings close on Friday 8 October and spaces are limited.

The small print

  • The course does not carry out a face fit for the delegates
  • There is no cost to attend the course
  • The course does not include a face fit test kit or masks to take away - to effectively manage resources testing equipment and Respiratory Protective Equipment should be provided at Faculty level
