Alena Ledeneva is Professor of Politics and Society at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) of University College London. Her expertise is on corruption; informal economy; economic crime; informal practices in corporate governance; role of networks and patron-client relationships in Russia and other postcommunist societies. Her recent books include How Russia Really Works听(Cornell University Press, 2006);听Unwritten Rules (Centre for European Reform, 2001);听Russia's Economy of Favours听(Cambridge University Press, 1998) and the co-edited volumes听Bribery and Blat in Russia听(Macmillan, 2000) and听Economic Crime in Russia (Kluwer Law International, 2000).
