Alena Ledeneva

Alena Ledeneva is Professor of Politics and Society at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) of University College London. Her expertise is on corruption; informal economy; economic crime; informal practices in corporate governance; role of networks and patron-client relationships in Russia and other postcommunist societies. Her recent books include How Russia Really WorksÌý(Cornell University Press, 2006);ÌýUnwritten Rules (Centre for European Reform, 2001);ÌýRussia's Economy of FavoursÌý(Cambridge University Press, 1998) and the co-edited volumesÌýBribery and Blat in RussiaÌý(Macmillan, 2000) andÌýEconomic Crime in Russia (Kluwer Law International, 2000).
