The guest lecture aims to develop an in-depth overview of the systemic and interconnected challenges we face in our volatile, unpredictable, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world. Starting with a broad systemic outline of the limits and vulnerabilities of modern societies, the lecture will argue that we lack the tools to understand the ongoing socio-ecological crises, and suggest new ways of thinking about governance in the age of complexity.
